Pursue Happiness And Peace

January 27th, 2010

I have spent my entire life pursuing peace. It’s interesting when I look back to see all the places I tried to find it. Everywhere but the source! Turns out the “Prince of peace”, the One who created the stuff tells us exactly how to obtain it. Hear what He says in Matthew:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

So it took roughly 10 years for me to stop looking in the gutters, in other people’s hearts, inside the music, down a straw, at the bottom of a bottle, in the arms of a woman and in the barrel of a gun…

Want to find peace? Find Jesus

Clearwater Mall

December 9th, 2009

Just after 6pm the boys got on stage inside the mall, rain unfortunately bombed all expectations of an outdoor show. The crowds gathered and people were definately very interested as they were hanging over the barriers on the second floor. People were definately paying attention! The first song played was “Father of light” at which time centre Management flagged the boys and they were only allowed to play one more song. Some people inside the centre seemed to have complained about the decibell count. For sure not the people around the stage, they were having a blast. The second and final song was the C.I.G.A.R.E (crazy) theme song and Ren took the opportunity to thank Ettiene Pietersen and Zino Ventura and all the staff and crew from C.I.G.A.R.E,  also all the fans who had come out to support them. This was the shortest set list ever but had an awesome effect as people flocked to buy the CD “Lucky Number 13″ and get the boys to sign them.

Rocking The Poison Rally

December 9th, 2009

On Saturday FOURTEEN40 performed live at the Poison Rally in Rustenburg. Temperatures soared from early, the band got on stage at around 9:30am. The set list was phenomenal and they entertained a crowd of well over three thousand people, a great time was had by all and the boys got to working on their tans some! When asked on their take of the show the boys responded as follows:
Roald:”Other than the heat. It was a great show. Great sound. Great vibe. We love the biker vibe. Made some new contacts and as always loved rocking out with the bikers! Oh and ask Ren what the pool water tasted like?….LOL ”
Jo:”We always have a blast gigging for the bikers! Such a genuine crowd. Now this is where people are accepted for who they are – no pretence, no judgement. A good bunch of people – I love it!”
Bruce:”It was an awesome experience, had the chance to meet some cool people and enjoyed performing for the bikers. I have to agree with Jo they are a very genuine bunch no pretence!”

Were still waiting for Ren to comment, I promise to keep nagging till he does….and we do wanna know what pool water tastes like!

But at the end of the day there was no time to linger, the boys had to get their suntanned bodies off to the next gig! All the way back to Johannesburg to play at the Clearwater Mall on the Westrand.
